Huber, our construction partner for the new multi-storey car park at CRH, will start piling work today, Monday, 1st September.
Piling involves putting in a series of concrete pillars underground to provide stability to the car park. To carry out the work a huge piling rig was brought on site over the weekend.
Our Site Manager for the work is Paul Ryan. Paul said: "The car park is being built using what's known as modern methods of construction. This is a process which focuses on off-site construction techniques, as alternatives to traditional building. For your new car park, that means we'll be using pre-cast concrete and steel components.
"Building the car park this way means it will also be completed much more quickly than traditional construction methods, and in parallel to the onsite works, will help provide reduced traffic on site, safer working practices and increased quality."
The piling work will be carried out during normal working hours and is expected to take less than nine weeks.
The turning circle at CRH will remain open for drop offs and pick ups, though there will be increased construction traffic in the area. Every effort will be made to minimise the impact on our neighbours.
