Giving back to our communities as we build our new A&E

Published on:

It’s never too young to learn about construction - is the message we’ve been sharing with our communities throughout the build of the new HRI A&E.

Our Social Values – giving back to our communities - has been very important throughout the build which is now approaching completion. As well as using local suppliers and construction partners we have also opened up a window into careers in the construction trade for the younger workforce.

These photos show how we have been sharing expertise and encouraging all ages into construction careers in the future.

Toddlers at our Spring Cottage nursery at HRI learned through play and fun with toy diggers and wearing mini hi-vis gear in their sandpit.

We’ve also supported:

  • Employer visits with C+K careers advisers who work directly with young  people in schools and colleges, as well as adult clients.  Eddie Parker from IHP gave an hour-long presentation and questions regarding the Huddersfield ED project, routes into construction and roles in construction. This was followed by a site visit.
  • Eddie Parker and Jamie Graham attended Kirklees College and gave a presentation to current students who are looking to find employment within construction.
  • We attended the Women in Construction event at Kirklees College.
