"A positive impact on local communities" - Joshua's new role after working on HRI's new A&E

Published on:

Joshua Gordge-Jones, a Kirklees College student, has secured a plumber’s apprentice role after impressing during his work experience on our new HRI A&E construction site.

Local firm Clifford Coopers, of Elland, have taken him on. Providing training and opportunities for younger generations at the start of their careers in a range of roles has been key in our unique tie-up with Kirklees College, Huddersfield.

It has also been an important part of our emphasis on community impact being part of the project.  From the start, their students have joined us on the site working and learning alongside experienced workers in all roles.

Joshua is pictured with Eddie Parker from our construction partners, Vinci. Eddie said: “We have local suppliers and a local workforce and to be able to give Joshua this experience and resulting new role is something we are all delighted and proud of."

Head of estates at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, Tom Donaghey, said: “From the start we wanted this project to have a positive impact on our local communities and Joshua is proof of that. We wish him well and glad he will always remember his time on the new A&E at HRI.”
